Magazine Cover peer review

http://aurorasphotojournalismblog.blogspot.com

The Twilight Howl-Aurora

I liked how all of the subheadings were on one side of the photo. It balanced out the picture because the subject (a dog) was on the left of the photo. I also liked the font used. It was pleasant to look at and didn't look childish or unprofessional.

The magazine name could have been much bigger. There was some extra space on the bottom right corner that could have been utilized.

I liked how professional it looked, including the photo.

Yes there is a barcode and I'm fairly sure it's in the correct spot.

Yes I would probably pick it up. The subheadings sound interesting and funny and the cover is nicely made.

I assume this is a portrait. I could be wrong though.

ATX-Ethan

I like the font used for the headings because it is bold and bright. I also like how the title is vertical, but still easily readable.

The random subhead on the side was hard to read and took away from the magazine's aesthetic. Most of the subheadings were placed sort of randomly.

I choose this magazine because of the cool style of the title and colors, and the colors of the biker jumped out at me.

I'm pretty sure it's in the right spot.

Yes I would pick it up because I like adventure and Austin and that's what the magazine is displaying.

Portrait.

I really like the colors used for the headings and name of the magazine. They stood out against the picture but also stayed in the same color packet. I also like the placement of the subheadings, and how big the title is.

I think the green used on the main story headline could have been utilized again, maybe at the top of the magazine.

I picked it because I liked the background photo and how the magazine just overall looked professional.

Yes and it is in the right spot.

I probably would pick it up because the cover is nice and attracting, but I don't think I would buy it because the headlines don't interest me that much.

I think a portrait.?

Prompt Shoot peer review

http://wesleysphotojournalismblog.blogspot.com/2016/01/prompt-shoot-3.html

My favorite photo was "the end". I liked this one because of the small focus ( I love how only the words the end are able to be read), and the black and white aspect. I also really like books & words and whatnot.

My least favorite was the "eight" photo. It doesn't stand out to me as much as the others do.

I really like how 3 out of 4 of the pictures are in b&w. It is creative and makes the "yummy" photo stand out more because it is in color. I also really like how the photos were not just taken from straight on with no zoom or change in aperture. I like how there are different angles and variety.

I think they could use aperture more wisely. In the "connected" and "eight" photo, the aperture blurs out almost all of the picture. Yes, aperture does create interesting depth of fields and focuses, but when used in the wrong situation it can be hard to find the "big picture" meaning. I think the first photo could have used a different aperture, because the focus of the picture was connection, yet it is zoomed in too far. This creates the opposite sense of connection, as it crops out the parts connected to the gears.

I think the "the end" photo was nicely portrayed. It was very literal, but sometimes being literal is the best way to go. It makes it easier for the audience to figure out the point of the picture.

I think the "Yummy" photo was the least successfully portrayed. The photo was taken nicely, but it really is just a picture of a drink, with not much meaning.

Welcome Back

FAVORITE PHOTOS
Marcio Cabral
I am obsessed with the variety of colors in the photo. I love how the lightning and landscape in the distance are reflected in the water, creating a sense of continuation. I think it is a beautifully created photo at just the right moment.

Dmitry Lovetsky I choose this photo because of the amazing repetition it creates. The people are seen all the way to the back of the depth of field, out of the picture. This photo has a really powerful message and it is also nicely shot.

Stuart Chape
This photo drew my eyes mainly because of the angle the picture was taken from, and the contrast the wave and the cliffs creates. I also like how the people were included to give a sense of scale.

BEST SONG
Heavydirtysoul- twenty one pilots
This isn't my all time favorite song (most of my favorites were released before 2015), but since twenty one pilots is my favorite band and they released a new album this year (!!!), I choose my favorite song from that album. This song has amazing beats and, as always with top, lyrics that sound like poetry. They might not always make sense, but the song has meaning and a purpose behind it. It's unlike what you usually hear on the radio (cringe) and that's why I like it.

BEST MOVIE
Image result for inside out
I saw approx. 3 movies ( in theaters) this entire year. I generally wait for them to come out on dvd to watch movies because while I love movies, I LOATHE movie theatres. And nothing that came out this year interested me very much. But from my small selection pool, I choose Inside Out. I choose it mainly because it was the only movie on the top 100 list that I actually saw, and also because I thought it was pretty cute (and it's pixar so yeah it's obviously going to be good). Not the best movie I've ever seen, but very cute regardless. Oh, and I also relate to sadness 100%.
